The UNQUO app was created by SEBx to help people who run their own businesses better manage their finances.
The app uses Tink’s tech to help users gather data from all their accounts – be it a business or personal one.
Once the user connects their accounts, they can see all their transactions in one place, as well as sort them as either ‘work’ or ‘life’-related expenses.
In 2019, after two years and 200 interviews with self-employed business owners, SEBx (Swedish bank SEB’s in-house innovation studio) identified a gap in the market for solopreneurs when it comes to how they manage their finances.
For many who run their business on their own, they have the sole responsibility for both sides of their financial lives – the work side and the personal one. It’s quite common for work and personal life to be jumbled. For example, large expenses can be charged on their personal bank account, making it difficult to get mortgages and other types of loans.
On top of that, solopreneurs have to switch between several apps to manage their finances. Which can be quite a hassle (not to mention time-consuming).
The thing is – solopreneurs need their time freed up, not tied up. So to help out, SEBx launched a new app: UNQUO.
UNQUO makes it easier for solopreneurs to keep track of and control both their work and life finances all within one app with a holistic overview of all accounts.
Within the app, the user can decide which cards or bank accounts they want to connect, and then easily fetch the data using Tink’s Transactions products.
Once the user connects their personal and business bank accounts, they will immediately see all their purchases and transactions in their feed. They can then categorise their purchases between either ‘work’ or ‘life’ (regardless of what bank account they used) quite easily by swiping left or right.
For instance, if a user made a work purchase on her personal bank account, she can simply swipe to label that purchase as ‘work’ and the expense will be included as a business transaction in a report within the app.
Get an overview of work and life finances
This allows users to get a complete overview of their finances, ensure transactions are correctly labeled for business, and have a smoother self-employed experience.
The UNQUO app also allows users to add additional details to the transaction – like receipts or purchase type classification – and create reports for better bookkeeping or to get a better understanding of spending.
SEB is leveraging Tink’s products to seamlessly connect users’ personal and business accounts (no matter where they bank) in the UNQUO app. Their ambition is to serve as many solopreneurs as possible, and understand and control their entire financial picture.
‘A key benefit to collaborating with Tink as an open banking provider is we’ve been able to extend our product offering to our users.,’ said Anna Helin, CPO at UNQUO. ‘By making it possible for solopreneurs to connect all their cards and accounts to the same app, they are now able to get a better overview, and by extension a better understanding, of their entire finances - both on their work and life side. To us, that has been important for the development of the product as it makes the UNQUO app more relevant to our users and their day-to-day reality.’
UNQUO’s partnership with Tink marks another step forward in our mission to enable new and better financial experiences, and we’re looking forward to growing our collaboration with SEBx in the future. The UNQUO app is currently available in Sweden.
